My story

I’ve always enjoyed business and the idea of helping entrepreneurs and organizations achieve their strategic goals. With that in mind, I decided to go the business route at university, studying accounting at the University of Toronto and graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in 2005. I’d go on to earn both Chartered Accountant and Chartered Professional Accountant designations.

Immediately after graduating, I took a position at our predecessor firm Adams, Masin & Tilley LLP, where I served as a staff accountant for nearly four years. I left for another mid-sized GTA accounting firm, but I felt it wasn’t home. In that sense, you could call me a ‘boomerang’—one of several members of the A+M team that have left and come back to the firm.

What drives me

By the time I returned, we were known as Adams & Miles LLP, and I’ve been proud to build my career here ever since. I rose through the ranks as a supervisor, manager and now as a partner in our condominium practice. Helping condominium property managers, board members and unit owners manage their condo community’s complexities never gets boring—and I’ve always been motivated to help clients who truly rely on our advice and expertise.

I chose our condo practice because I enjoy specializing in a particular sector and being a leader in the field. It’s also very fast-paced, with legislation and financial challenges requiring new solutions. It’s rewarding to help condo stakeholders optimize everything from their accounting to their corporate processes. It’s really about helping them mitigate risk and finding new opportunities to capitalize on accounting efficiencies.

Whenever I’m asked to explain what’s special about working at Adams + Miles, I sum it up by saying: We care. We take the time to understand our clients’ needs. We respond to their requests promptly. When they need us, we’re there. It’s a very unique culture, where dedicated professionals work together in our clients’ best interests, delivering technically accurate work and added value wherever possible. That’s a rare blend of passion and talent. This also feels like a big family. We treat each other with respect and look out for one another. Like I say, it’s a very special place to work.
